MORNING

First round table: Eco-innovation, key of performance

In French with a translation in English

The efficient use of resources and the reduction of the environmental impacts of our consumer goods are the main challenges that we all face in order to make sustainable development a reality. It can only be done in a life cycle perspective.

"Doing more and better with less" is the inspiring project of eco-innovation. Sustainable production and consumption patterns lead the different stakeholders to dialogue with each other, enriching the debate through exchanges: businesses, consumers, policy makers, researchers, scientists, retailers, the media, cooperation organizations for development, etc.

Meeting these challenges and achieving these objectives requires a systemic approach and strong cooperation between the various actors.

Christian Brodhag – President of Pôle Eco-conception Performance du cycle de vie
Bettina Heller - Associate Program Officer at UN Environment
Eric Fournier – Environment Vice President Auvergne Rhône Alpes Region
Raphael Guastavi– Deputy Head of Department - Product Service and Material Efficiency - ADEME

Key note: Implement eco-innovation with the Eco-I Manual

In English

Preview of the French version of the Eco-I Manual.

The ECO-I Manual is a methodology for implementation of eco-innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises developed by the Technical University of Denmark for UNEP (United Nations Environment Program). This handbook aims organizations to inform, guide and assist them to improve their environmental performance as a strategy to develop new business models, through a range of models and resources on which they can rely on for their eco-design and eco-innovation projects.

This guide has been translated and adapted for the Francophonie by Pôle Eco-conception Performance du Cycle de Vie. A link to download it for free will be sent to all participants of the Eco-innovation Symposium.

Tim McAloone - Research Professor at the Technical University of Denmark

Second roundtable – Companies feedback on eco-innovation

In French with a translation in English

Following the presentation of methodological elements for the implementation of eco-innovation, companies already committed to improving environmental performance will provide feedback on their eco-innovation projects.

EcoMobilier - Up Cycling a Sofa

In 2016, as part of the Domocité research program of the French Furniture in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Eco-mobilier commissioned the designer Amaury Poudray to work on up-cycling. This sofa is a demonstrator of what can be done in furniture based on recycled materials.

Lactips – from unsuitable milk to water-soluble plastic film

Lactips created the first water-soluble plastic polymer. It is agro-sourced, completely biodegradable with low aquatic toxicity and compostable. Based on patented scientific and technological expertise, the plastic films is a real alternative to water-soluble, petro-sourced plastics.

Winemakers Buzet - bee friendly wine (yes you will be able to taste it at lunch time)

The Winemakers Buzet are therefore committed to a virtuous approach from the vineyard to the glass, driven by increasingly strong customer expectations. Today, the wine "Vignes de Peyrau" is labeled Bee Friendly, a European label that aims to promote products and production systems respectful of pollinators.

These testimonials will be supported by experts (Tim McAloone, Philippe Bajeat ADEME and Samuel Mayer Pôle Eco-conception)

Interview - What are the new economic models of eco-innovation?

In French

Eco-design and eco-innovation have left the age of pioneers to address that of broad dissemination. It is no longer a question of targeting differentiation in niche markets, but of responding to the expectations of a structured market. The integration of environmental criteria, and more broadly of the circular economy, is becoming widespread in public and private markets, and eco-organizations are working towards source reduction by integrating eco-design criteria into the calculation of royalties. Companies can no longer be behind this movement. How to prepare for all these changes? How are the most advanced companies working to propose new offers in line with all the requirements? Two pioneering companies in terms of eco-design and eco-innovation will give their views on these issues.
